AXS

Rethinking search & discovery

Problems

AXS's search split events, performers, and venues into separate tabs, led with low-engagement trending content, and applied inconsistent filters, making it hard for fans to find the artist or event they came for.

Solutions

1. Redesigned search with a performer-first hierarchy, unified results, and category-led discovery to match how fans look for live events.

2. Built a reusable component system and an AI-assisted prototyping workflow to keep designs and the functional prototype consistent.

A better way to search

A redesigned search experience that simplifies navigation, prioritizes relevant results, and creates more intuitive ways to discover content.
By introducing a performer-first hierarchy, unifying search results, and expanding browsing options, the redesign helps users explore artists, events, and venues with greater ease.

Search wasn’t built for discovery

THE CHALLENGE

The original experience separated events, performers, and venues into three tabs, prioritized low-engagement trending events, and offered inconsistent filtering. Results could also surface venues outside the user's area.

What changed & why

DESIGN RATIONALE

Fans often begin with who they want to see—not which category they want to search. The redesign reflects that mental model by prioritizing performers and bringing events, artists, and venues into a unified experience.

By improving the search hierarchy, introducing new ways to browse, and surfacing more relevant results, we created a more intuitive path from initial discovery to finding the right event.

Rethinking how users discover

DISCOVERY

The new experience shifts away from searching within isolated categories and toward a more natural discovery flow.

DISCOVERY SESSION NOTES

One search, all results

A unified results experience brings performers, events, and venues together in one place. Clear hierarchy and consistent filtering make it easier to scan results, refine a search, and move from initial interest to the right event.

FINAL DESIGNS

Search, reimagined

The final designs include live results that lead with a top match, a unified results page, and a performer page that displays nearby events, all built from the same components.

Typography and the content card carry most of the experience: a single text block defines how every piece of copy is structured, and one card pattern powers browsing across search, discovery, and results.

AI-Powered design workflow

DESIGN PROCESS

I set up an interconnected, AI-powered workflow across Figma, Cursor, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Claude to reduce friction between design, documentation, and prototyping.

Bringing these tools together created a seamless path from design to prototype—making it faster to test interactions, iterate in code, and build prototypes that more closely reflected the production experience.

Using Cursor and the AXS design system components in Figma connected through MCP, I translated high-fidelity designs into an interactive code-adjacent prototype.

AI-assisted prototyping allowed me to explore interactions, refine the search experience, and iterate directly in the browser, accelerating the path from design to production.

From design to functional prototype

PROTOTYPING

The redesigned search and discovery flow, component set, and prototype have been delivered, and the feature is now in development. Success will be measured by how fast fans reach the right result, with usability testing and a phased rollout planned to validate the performer-first approach.
