The onboarding experience required too many steps, creating friction that led to a high rate of user abandonment. Users could not easily find relevant or new content, resulting in user churn.
Solutions
• Redesigned onboarding to reduce sign up time and provide better education of app’s core functionality
• Added recommendations, filters, genre browsing, and social features to make content discovery easier

To improve onboarding, discovery, and engagement in the TV Time app included, several features were redesigned throughout the app.
A single sign up/log in button and social login for users, reducing support tickets for users who forgot login information
The addition of algorithm based recommendations called “Top shows for you” accompanied by a compatibility score based on user activity
New sorting and filtering methods allowing users find content more easily
UI to support quick tracking of seasons and episodes
A comments feed for engagement between users about tv and movie content
Customizable user profile pages, introducing custom lists and in-depth user stats
